Well, I finally got that traveling itch scratched:)
A friend of mine and I lit out for California celebrating her retirement and a precious friendship we left cares and worries for another day and just enjoyed our beautiful country, some change of scenery and good friendship. Hope you enjoy the sites. We flew in to San Franciso and hung out at Union Square for the first couple of nights, what a blast! A neat city!
And although we did take a couple of inadvertent detours… the cable cars were not to be missed.

On the third day of our adventure we rented a car for places ‘unknown’ atleast to us.
Our first stop was in the picturesque town of Sausalito. My mother first told me about this jewel years ago, how appropriate we would get to visit it on her birthday. I can see why she was so smitten, gorgeous area, water, shopping, alfresco dining, a hit with Sharon and myself as well!
This is San Francisco skyline in the background, a fabulous day for breakfast and shopping!
Next we ventured out to see a couple of beautiful vineyards in the Sonoma valley, Viansa and Jacuzzi. The setting could easily transport you to the mediterranean, olive trees, vineyards and gorgeous courtyards, what more could one want?

Cheers to good friends and good times!
From here it was to the coast. We had a room at the Bodega Bay Lodge waiting and despite all the confusion of the modern day smart phones with their gps information
we made it to our destination before dark… I must say Sharon was a good sport as I was most definitely ‘hard headed’ in my quest…Guess that comes from still having to live with the ‘dumb phone’ I’ll just say… since she lost service somewhere between Sonoma and Bodega Bay, I’m glad I had written directions and the phone number to the lodge
It did seem to be somewhat the end of the line… no doubt why it was chosen as the setting for the famed horror show “The Birds” decades ago…whooooooo Actually the setting was ideal, tranquil, beautiful if maybe a little warm for them the days we were there. We got to see deer on the property and the walk to the ocean was a pleasant early morning trek to see the sunrise.

All in all it seemed to be the ideal spot from which to relax away from the hustle/bustle and be within driving distance to easily see the Pacific Coast, with it’s twists and turns up CPH 1 we experienced the awesome Pacific with it’s crashing almost angry waves while in route to another place of solitude, the Armstrong Redwood Forest, with it’s oldest tree of 1400 years, at over 300feet tall, General Armstrong. The wonders of nature never fail to inspire me, what an awesome God we serve!

A fun trip all the way, happy retirement Sharon, who knows maybe you’re next pursuit will be photography:P I can always use an assistant, and you did an awesome job.
